Jewish Ghetto & Synagogue of Rome Tour

Tour Overview

  • The Jewish Ghetto is a fascinating remnant of Roman and Jewish history that still breathes Jewish tradition, character and Kosher food. The ghetto was created in 1555 for a community that was part of Rome for over 2000 years. The area is the site of the main Synagogue of Rome and the Jewish museum.

  • Despite its tainted history, here in Rome is built the largest synagogue in Europe, that houses its own museum full of history and religious traditions.  Depending on people’s interest nevertheless, this tour is generally included in the Trastevere & Ghetto Tour without entering the synagogue and museum, which one can do on one’s own with prior reservations.
